Learn the skills you need to get hired in one of Arizona's fastest-growing industries – in just 10 days.

Semiconductors make almost every piece of technology that we use possible. They're an essential component of our electronic devices and many of them are made right here in Arizona. We've partnered with major employers like Intel to develop our accelerated Semiconductor Technician Quick Start program where you can learn the skills you need to join this fast-growing industry.

What is the Semiconductor industry?

Blue underline

Maricopa County is emerging as a global semiconductor industry hub with industry growth expected over the next several years. Currently though, due to factors outside of our control, hiring among our employer partners in the semiconductor industry has slowed. At this time we do not know when hiring will pick up again, but we are in constant communication with our partners and we will update you as more information becomes available.

We will continue to offer the Maricopa Community Colleges’ short-term training program to help prepare students for when jobs become available, to help students gain skills and knowledge to apply to an Automated Industrial Technology certificate or degree program, as well as to help individuals who are interested in applying these skills to other growing sectors of manufacturing.

Semiconductor Technicians help manufacture semiconductors (essential components of electronic devices) with the use of special purpose furnaces, x-ray equipment, chemical baths, and equipment used to form circuitry and change conductive properties. These technicians work in a clean room environment and wear "bunny suits" (an overall garment to minimize contaminants).

Arizona leads the nation in pay for Semiconductor Processing Technicians, with an average salary of nearly $30 per hour or $62,370 per year (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)!
